What Happens in an Initial Meeting?
Your first meeting with me is an important opportunity to explore how I can support you on your journey, whatever that may be. It's essential to clarify that this initial session is not a counselling
session itself but rather a chance for us to get to know each other better and determine if we are a good fit to work together. It is a chance for us both to discuss expectations for the process and
begin to form a working relationship.
During this meeting, we will focus on understanding your reasons for seeking counselling, your concerns, and what you hope to achieve through our sessions. I encourage you to openly share your thoughts and feelings, ask questions, or express any concerns you may have, knowing that everything discussed will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and respect.
There is absolutely no obligation following this initial consultation. My aim is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental environment where you can feel comfortable expressing yourself and assessing whether my approach aligns with your needs. We can discuss how long sessions may last, my experience working with issues similar to yours, my policies around confidentiality, and how I store your information.
By the end of our meeting, I hope you'll have a clearer sense of how I can assist you and whether you feel comfortable moving forward with counselling. Together, we can outline a collaborative plan to help you achieve your goals and navigate life's challenges with greater resilience and confidence.
If this all sounds like a plan, you can take the first step towards positive change by scheduling your initial consultation today. I look forward to meeting you and exploring how I can support you on your journey.
